John 3:5-6

“Jesus answered, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.'” ~ John 3:5-6

This is hard to swallow for most. There are a few times where Jesus talks about people that cannot enter the kingdom. Since Jesus is the only way I think we can take His word for it. Unless you are baptized with the Holy Spirit you cannot enter the kingdom of God. People can be powerful and do amazing things without being baptized in the Spirit. Take Chris Angel for example. He floats or “flies” between buildings, walks through glass windows and even walks on water. Is he baptized in the Spirit? I would say no. The fruit of his life does not bring glory to God but men. He is a deceiver.

Jesus also says there will be those on that day who will cry out, “Lord, lord, did we not do mighty things in your name?” And He will reply, “I never knew you.” Baptism is the means by which we are born again. Therefore, to be born of the Spirit is to be baptized in Him. Unless you are born of water AND the Spirit you cannot enter the kingdom of God. It’s scary to think about. I haven’t been baptized in the Spirit. But it is here. Clear as day. We have no excuse. We must pursue God with all we are or remain flesh. The flesh is evil, the Spirit is good. The choice is ours.
