“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” ~ John 3:16
This passage is used so much that I think it has lost some of its meaning to us. First God loved us. He loved us so much that He gave us His only Son as a sacrificial Lamb to be slaughtered for our sins. God watched as we beat, tortured, mocked and crucified His Son so that we could once again have a real relationship with Him. Not only that, but also so we could live healthy, prosperous, generous, peaceful, joyous and full lives.
Many will say, “I believe in Jesus and my life isn’t full of peace, joy and prosperity.” Or, “Jesus said that we will have trouble in this life.” These things may be true but in spite of our circumstances we can be full of peace and joy. Through our trouble we can live prosperously and generously. We have the choice and in that choice is power. Christ died and raised to give us ALL things. Everything is ours already. All we have to do is believe and receive them with a thankful heart.
God loves us that much. We will never perish but will have eternal life. So what are we afraid of? Receive God’s love today. And receive with it the relationship Jesus died for.
